The July Level 1 workshop took place at a beautiful venue in an old and charming area called Highgate in North London. Originally built in 1582 as a private home for three-times Lord Mayor of London, Sir Richard Martin, Lauderdale House in Highgate is now a creative hub for the community.
Over the centuries the House changed hands many times, being described by John Wesley, who preached here in 1782, as “one of the most elegant boarding houses in England”. The 29 beautiful acres of land became a public park which is almost hidden behind the gates to Lauderdale house.
Having driven past this venue for years and never realising there were such incredible grounds behind the historic building which showcases local artists and musicians, I was delighted to teach a Level 1 in a place holding so much history within and magical nature around it.
Lauderdale House Long Gallery
We used The Long Gallery upstairs which has wooden beams throughout the ceiling and a feature fire place that held such a strong energy. It was very synchronistic that we had the grand piano in the room with us. Two people in the group were highly talented musicians and it was great fun knowing we had Take That’s keyboard player in the group! We were able to enjoy having the piano played to us during the distance healing session, whilst sending energy to the group through the music. Wow! It was a beautiful way to see how we can play with the techniques and be creative in the way we facilitate and direct our energy.
Lauderdale stunning gardens
Having so many windows looking out onto the parkland meant that we could use the view to inspire us during practice sessions. It is wonderful knowing that there are such hidden gems in a busy city like London. It is amazing how we see and find entirely new places and things when we and look for them!
I would highly recommend visiting on a sunny afternoon and having lunch in the delicious cafe. You can sit outside and then have a walk to the lakes at the back or take a packed lunch and sit by the sun dial…
